Some members have backgrounds in fields such as geology, mineralogy and mine engineering. But, most of all, our members share a common love of freedom to explore the great outdoors. - A number of our club members are "Snowbirds" from many states. Whether on extended vacations or for the winter. They come to the great southwest to enjoy the weather and seek that beautiful yellow metal known as Gold. Our club has several gold bearing claims where they pursue their goals. Most of are members own at least one metal detector. Others in our club put their trust into proven gold extraction equipment such as dry washers and recirculating sluices. The club conducts regular monthly outings where you can see and use a variety of prospecting equipment first hand at a location known to produce gold. - There's a wealth of knowledge to be gained and friendships to be made. Finding gold is not our sole priority. Club members participate in public service activities such as fencing and securing abandoned mine shafts, teach scouts and public school students about the mining industry, minerals and gold panning. We also voice our opinions on matters such as land use and mining laws. Nevada Miners & Prospectors 4070 Bigelow Dr. Carson City, NV 89701 USA Nevada Mining Association 5250 S. Club Claims are in Southern Washington and Oregon. Meeting in Milwaukie, Oregon on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm. NWMPC has gold claims at the following locations: * Quartzville Creek near Salem, Oregon * Chetco River in southwest Oregon * Copper Creek near Mt. St. Helens in Washington, * Willow Creek in Eastern Oregon just south of Baker City * Mollalla Recreational Area just east of Mollalla Oregon Thus giving its members the opportunity and the right to prospect for gold and other minerals in a designated area. Many of our members have their own private claims in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, to which club members are periodically invited. NWMPC has various pieces of mining equipment available for members "use" and a mining library. The club sponsors monthly raffles and a "gold drawing" to encourage membership and attendance. Our members vary from the novice to the dedicated experienced miner. A complimentary newsletter is sent to interested guests. We feature club outings to our claims, films on prospecting, clinics on various methods of gold recovery (including electronic detection), treasure hunts, potlucks and other fun events.
